2023 Holloran Tempranillo Vignes Volantes
Tasting notes
The nose impression shows blueberry notes, with a nutmeg spiciness present. The mid-palate is lush & broad, with deep blackberry and hints of rhubarb. The finish shows very ripe tannins, red fruits, and persists. Enjoy with Beef Tenderloin with Rhubarb & Red Wine. Drink 2026 – 2036. Decant in the early years.

The 2023 growing season had a very late budbreak, followed by warm sunny weather in May & June that ‘caught up’ vine growth prior to flowering. Consistent, warm weather in July, August & September allowed even ripening and full flavor development. We picked by hand, then hand sorted, destemmed 100%, and fermented primarily with cultivated yeasts. Aged 18 months in 5% new French oak barrels with American oak heads, plus a mix of older French and American oak.
